Holi is one of the innumerable Hindu Festival which is celebrated on the full moon day of the Phalgun month(March 23 & 24, 2016)of the Hindu Calender. It has various religious significance and stories related to it but the one reason that I find meaningful is that it is celebrated because it marks the arrival of the spring season in India.
A day before colourful Holi, which is known as Dhulenti. We bring woods, haystack, colours and flowers for decoration.
Like every year we celebrated this festival this year too at our Vallabh Nagar Society. My cousins and I had taken the charge of making this complete as always. People from across the society come to praise the Holika, for Pooja.☺
This is how Holika looks like.
We had arranged soft drinks for everyone. The soft drink was a return gift for all. 🙂
So the day 1 festival was over. Now it was a time for day two festival; dhulenti where people play with different color “gulaal” as an expression of their joy. This day it is very much common for the people to ‘let bygones, be bygones’ and forget the bitterness amongst each other. Shops and offices remain closed for the day and people get all the time to get crazy and whacky. Bright colours of gulal and abeer fill the air and people take turns in pouring colour water over each other.
Children take special delight in spraying colours on one another with their pichkaris and throwing water balloons on passers by. Women and senior citizen form groups called tolis and move in colonies – applying colours and exchanging greetings. Songs, dance on the rhythm of dholak and mouthwatering sweets are the other highlights of the day.
From the moment I woke up today, I was totally engrossed in Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner. And I succeeded for about 5 hours, that I continuously reading the book. Then all of a sudden I got a call from bunch of my friends. They wanted to make me colourful. I pleaded them a lot. But they didn’t listen to me for a while.
So I had to surrender myself, and became the part of the gang. Just have a look on our looks. We look pathetic.😂

Yap, last night I saw the GoogleDoodle and at first it kinda looked like a color run fest in here but after I hover and clicked onto it, I merely knew that it’s Holi. And that’s what it looks like in a real life (amazed)
What’s the dry-like pine there for? I suddenly imagine the Christmast..

Thank you, thank you Mithai. First of all your comeback is making me so happy. It’s not always about the comments or reviews fellow bloggers give. At times it just feels good to see your friend commenting and appreciating. 🙂
I hope you’re doing well now. Don’t forget to take medicines. 🙂 I’m sure you’re gonna rock it on Rangpanchmi. (I don’t know in your city(Mumbai, lol😜😂) people celebrate Rangpanchmi or not. But people die here in the name of Rangpanchmi. 😂😂
Yes yes, Yadav Bros are Superb. We celebrate every festivals. And the great things is people across the society get together to see our hardwork. 🙂
*It’s just too good feeling to read you after so long. Thank you :))))*
