They say love makes life worth living. It is indeed true and I learnt that from you.
Well, Maori is the original name for Mana, and Mana is the name of my lovely Sister (actually, she’s more than that;)) which means, an impersonal supernatural power which can be transmitted or inherited. And yes, she’s the one who knows everything single thing about everything. She’s the girl who help me with everything. She’s a gold medalist in Sanskrit from Xavier’s college in her graduation and double gold medalist in Sanskrit as well in her post graduation. She has won 7 international scholarship across the world. Even after having so many things, she has me as her brother. Hahahahah… ok sorry😂😂😅
Let me start from here, I don’t know from where I should start, but let me start from here. 😀
You must see her write-ups here on WordPress. She’s an amazing writer. And her English is outstanding.
You can follow her write-ups at-
There is nothing that love can’t accomplish there is nothing that love cannot crack open. Love might shatter our comfort zones, but it will always take us to deeper levels within ourselves. It will force us to expand our boundaries and explore new things. On this new journey of life that you are about to embark. I hope you take along lots of love.
Security is just an illusion. We feel that we are secure when things that we need are within our reach, when we are able to satisfy our wants and when life is at a pace we can handle. But when we do new things, there is no security. When Neil Armstrong went to the moon, what proof did he have that he would return safe? When Edmund Hillary climbed Mount Everest, what did he carry along for security? These great men broke out of their comfort zones and went ahead to do things they didn’t need to do. Just like how you went out your way to help a woman in distress, just how you gave your hand when the world ignored my cries for help, you made me feel secure. You’ve done great things, break the shackles and fulfill your dreams. They’re waiting for you.
I know, you’re pro in Sanskrit. You’ve already got something so special Mana Didi which people hardly has these days. I wish you all the best for that too.
She had given me a beautiful diary when I went to Ahmedabad recently. A lovely diary.
I asked her what should I write in it, and she just not tolde to write what you want to write instead, as always, she described everything in numerous ways. Have a look what she had emailed me:
Dear Sumubaba,
So here are some of my ideas regarding what you can write in that diary. (By the way I have got a wild idea regarding these yearly diaries. But let me keep my mouth shut until I actually implement them.)
1. Your most wonderful thoughts. (Like the one where you wrote when my mum gave me pen..) Thoughts which would be very useful in life. You can also include someone else’s thoughts if you find them good enough to be remembered.
2. Your creative ideas and dreams. Like how you want things to be done in your unique ways. What kind of things you want to write. The kind of business you want to do. The kind of entrepreneurs you want to be. And every other thing that has a way that would mark it different because it is your idea. This could even be your wildest dream. Something which may seem impossible today. But you need to imagine it, shape it and materialise it. For that you need a positive reminder of your dreams.
3. Things you want to with your internal self. Spiritual changes that you want to bring in yourself. The kind of person you want to be that would make your parents proud of you. For me, you are a human being with purest of the heart, but still if you think then you can write here the outcome of your deep thoughts that are triggered after you read spiritual writings. Or even otherwise. But this will be pertaining to your soul and not just outer achievements.
4. If you want, you can also write about your little happy moments. Small incidents that made you smile. Tiny things you did for others and became their reason of happiness. They could be very valuable later in your life when you’d need them.
If anything else comes to my mind, i will write again.
With heaps of love,
Your diduP.s. – I remember a story where there was little a girl who aspired to be a writer. And in those days stationeries were not easily available. So her uncle used to give her diaries to write. And she’d call them Jimmy books because her uncle’s name was James. Haha...
You know, in life, there are very few people who really ask us how we are. When people ask it as a formality, we have all the right in the world to pretend that we’re perfect. But when it comes from the heart, when the intention to know how you are is genuine, let the layers fade. Let the reality come out.
People say that we need to pretend, as we cannot go around sharing our sorrows. Maybe it’s true; maybe it’s not. I haven’t learnt that yet. But I know that I’m willing to take away a part of your pain by listening to the troubles you have. A problem shared is like a burden lifted off the shoulder, it gets halved. So share not only your joys, but your sorrows too. A joy when shared will multiply and a sorrow? When it shared, it will divide.
Ah, I know I’m little busy at times. Ok sorry, all the time. But you know, I’m always available for my people in need, right?;)
I have always admired how you have defined yourself. You’re a Sanskrit Professor, you’re a daughter, a sister, a friend and I’m sure you play so many more roles in the lives of people around you. But you have always been ‘love’ to me. I love how you have no layers to yourself. I love that innocence, that warmth and that smile that you seem to carry. I love the sweet tune of your voice whenever you talk. Please never change that no matter how stern the world seems on changing it; be yourself. You’re too beautiful a person to turn into a replica of crazy mud-heads.
She is not just caring but she’s a loving girl too. I remember how she had wished my Mum on her birthday (May 7, 2016) let me show you that mail-
My dear Zigyasa Aunty,
Sabse pehle ek jadoo ki zappi💝 Wishing you a happiest birthday! There are many more to come. Many more birthdays, when you’ll see your son rising higher and higher. You will see that every effort you have put into raising him is now bringing its golden results in each success your son is achieving. I want to wish you not only because you are Sumubaba’s mumma. But because of the lady you are. So full of love and goodness. It reflects in your son. The way he is making a difference in this world just by being himself. Your loving nature radiates through him. I am sure he must be your replica. Now all grown up. Do you know aunty how girls go ga-ga over him. I enjoy that. You’d smile too. I am so glad Aunty to meet someone like you. Kind and hardworking. The world shall be always thankful for the miracle you gave it in the form of your son. He is your legacy.
Love you aunty!
With warmest of regards,
ManaP.s. – Sumit has even more beautiful surprising waiting for you.
Did you see how charming she is? 🙂
By the way, that surprise was that blog which I had written for Mum and you all have loved it so much. 🙂
If you haven’t read it, you can have a look here.
A letter to My Mum : Happy birthday Mumma
I care for you and would only wish you the best. I hope your spirits are high and awakened. I hope that you pop open a bottle of champagne (if you don’t drink, even water would do!), raise a toast to yourself, face life in the eye and say, “I’m ready, bring it on! Show me what you’ve got!” For that’s how strong you are.
Well, this is not all. I was so overwhelmed when I got a parcel from Ahmedabad on the day of my birthday. She had made total 21 handmade creative cards with paintings and with her creativity for me. I really don’t know what to say now. I guess, this blog will not be enough for her love. Still, I’m summarising as much as I can. Though, I know I can’t. There are a lot more. 🙂
But let me show you guys, what she had sent me. I’m sure you’re all gonna love it too. 🙂
Aren’t they beautiful?:D

I can write thousands of more words for you Didi to express my love for you. But you’ve got the same powers as me, I don’t need to tell you all of them, because you know it. 🙂
I wish you all the very best for this day.
Happy birthday Mana Didi.

I can guess how great she is, by your words, the cards she made and of course the beautiful letter she wrote for your mum on her b’day.
Each and every word of that letter would have made Aunt smile wide. ❤
Cards she made, I don’t have words. 😍 They are perfect.
The ideas she gave you for writing thoughts in diary are so intellectual as well as amazing. 📝👌
Sumit, you are so lucky to have such a mentor, friend, sister and dulcinea in your life. ❤☺
I’m so happy for you, so so happy. ☺☺

I’m actually following those ideas in my diary which she had gifted me. 🙂
I’ve started writing something with a title – “3 AM Thoughts”😉
I’m really grateful for her to be with me, even in the smallest work.
I’m happy that you also wished her on her birthday. She said a big thanks to you yesterday. 😃

I had no idea what to write for the birthday post, at 1 o’clock I had a talk with her and I said, Di I really don’t have any idea what to write for you today, still I’ll be posting 4 lines.
But thankfully, my pen didn’t want me to write only four lines. It just went with the flow. And I’m so happy that this made her feel so happy. 🙂
What can be the best thing than making someone smile. 🙂
I’ve conveyed your wishes to her. She has passed a big thank you for you Eva. 😃

If I would be asked, I’d undoubtedly say that India is the most beautiful place in the world. because it is my motherland. And like you, I too would not like to live anywhere else in the world!
There is a saying in Sanskrit “जननी च जन्मभूमि च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी”, ‘Janani ca janma-bhumi ca svarga-da-pi gariyasi’, which means that mother and motherland are greater than heaven!
Somehow because the way Botswana is narrated in that book I mentioned, I am drawn to it. I had also read about the place from the internet. but you are the first person I am honored to meet from that beautiful country. glad to meet you!

Yes, Yoga is a part of our lives in India. Have studied a few Yogic texts too as a part of my curriculum. Such as some portions of Patanjali’s Yogasutra and complete texts of Yoga-shatak and Yoga-drishti-samuccaya. I also teach Sanskrit and a few of my students are Yoga trainers. We have discussions in our class, I get to learn from them as well.

So, finally I have gained senses to reply. Your post, my dear little one, is like a Manna from heaven. Every time I write or tell you something, you say it made you speechless. But this time, as if you were ‘taking revenge’ on me, you made me speechless for almost a week. Yours is one of the most precious birthday gifts I have received till now. It’s a bliss. It feels wonderful to be wished by all your readers. I thank them all for their warmth and love. I am a blessed soul. Yes, like you said; on this new journey of life that I have embarked, I am taking along lots of love. And how wouldn’t I? When I am ‘love’ personified! And I did opened that bottle of champagne and raised a toast to myself. I also ate cake. And you know what? This jollification was cherry on that cake.
P.s. Girls are more often appreciated for their beauty rather than their brains. The first thing that struck me when I read this piece was your title, Jollification of An “Intelligent” Girl. And I instantly fell for it. Thank you for appreciating me for what I am. This is the best compliment.

In the Maori language, mana is hard to define in English, but it’s something like honor, but also something like strength–also maybe something like respect or self-respect. I don’t know more than a few words of the language, but a friend who’s Maori once said, about an awkward situation some people were in, that what mattered was that everyone come out of it with their mana intact.
