Divyani: A Girl with a Golden Heart

A story back from December 22, 2015

I always wanted to write a blog for my best friend Divyani Shah, but I didn’t have an idea how can I express my love, my true friendship for her. But today, something happened which made me write this thankful note to her. She really stood by me when I actually need her. And that clearly shows, she will be forever. No matter what. And such best friends are rare to find.

A lot of people would come into your lives, and to be honest hardly will leave a trace of their existence, their personality, their little habits on you, but at the same time you will meet one in a thousand people who will not only leave a string of footsteps engraved upon your heart, but you will always find them on every step of your life. They will keep letting you know by supporting and being with you on the race life that they are with you no matter what. Always.

So thank you so much Gappu (This is what I call her, Pyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaar se :*) , I appreciate the fact that we are such best friends and, I would always thank my God to have you in my life. Even after having so many quarrels, abuses, fights, love, sharing, caring our friendship remains same, even after people changed like season. But our friendship never gets affected. People come and people go but what remains in life is true relationships. I’m thanking you for being in my life. I’m so relieved now, I could see the true, long-lasting, never stop caring best friend in you from the very 5th day, from our college started. I could never get a true, lively, self-independent, who fight for our own self and for her best friend. I’m thanking my intuitions that it could smell the pure fragrance of our friendship, from the very first day we have started talking.

All I want you to be happy, delighted, lively, as you are. Nobody has the power to come across neither to our friendship nor to our Coffee Time. Today, you proved yourself without even being asked anything.

A lot of people come in our lives and a lot will be coming more. But the true ones will stay forever. And I’m glad I found one of them. It is none other than you, Gappu.

(You can imagine, how foody she is. Huh! She can eat a dinosaur too if she could. 😛 )

Life, seldom it pulls the rug from under our feet. All of a sudden, we find ourselves broken and unable to get back to our legs. When I thought all hopes are gone, there I found you smiling with me. You were always there to give me your helpful hands even when I did not need it (Yeah, that comes under over smartness. Lol! BC ) When everyone left, or I guess we only kicked their asses off when they became unbearable, we were the only support to each other. And as always the shining stars of MBA. From Compliance to Canteen, we left no place where people don’t know about our friendship. 🙂

People still give an example of our love and dedication for our friendship. I guess that what best friends are made for. We are the glue to each other that holds us together to know and support each other when we need each other so much.

I remember I have fucked myself up for one of the girls who had approached me a few days back and then ran away like a coward, and you found me crying outside the classroom, oh my God, you had missed your favourite subject’s (Account) lecture to console me.

And you did not attend the next lecture either just to make me calm down. And after that made me ready to come into the class along with you. That day you have had won my heart for thousand more times, Gappu.

You knew many a times that i shouldn’t have not hanged around with those girls with whom I’ve regretted later. Still, you’ve never told me anything but you took care of me even on those times when nobody did. You’ve always taken care of me like like a spoilt kid. To thank you with words would never suffice. You know how you are to me. 🙂

If you remember it was the fifth day of post graduation time when we had met for the very first time. And my exact words to you were, “Hi, Divyani! I don’t know how but why do I get this feeling that we’ll be best friends for years.” Maybe I must have said that because I used to read a lot of books at that time and we just get to know such friendships in the context of a book. But who knew the statement was so brilliantly portrayed that we’re living that moment ever since. I’m so grateful for that.

After all, you meet the right people accidentally, don’t you? The same way, I’ve got you. And not to forget such people are cherished forever.

There was a time when I had to choose something in between you and a girl who was very much close to me. My brain was screaming her name when it was about to impress her by that gift but I don’t know why I listened to my heart and chose you instead.

Today, that girl is no longer exist in my life but you were there. You still are. I’m so proud of my heart for such selection of people who matter the most to me.

I was amazed to see her name flashing on my screen at 5:30 PM. I picked up the call, with my full of enthusiastic voice (At times, people get scared too. :p)

I heard her saying, “Yaar Summu (Summu is what Divyani calls me, pyaar se) I am missing you.”

As only a few days back only I called her and said the same thing, which made me laugh when she does the same. Haha! I asked her to take out some time to meet. Since now our streams are different, Of yes! she loves numbers and chose Finance. But numbers always f*ck with me, so there was no chance of taking that stream for me. So our exams are on different dates, we don’t get to meet much. Also, we were busy in our jobs so have not met for a long time. But when suddenly she asked me to be ready, she’ll be at my place in half an hour. I was jumping with joy afterward. As you can read how our friendship has always been, so being excited to meet each other is but obvious.

So, Divyani is here now at my place. We are ready to have a lot of fun this evening. 😀 Just to make her smile, I gifted her my all time favorite chocolate, Ferrero Rocher. Haha! I cannot share what did she say after receiving that box of chocolate. I asked her if I need to bring my bike, as always NO was the answer. We went ahead on her Activa only.

So the plan was unplanned. Neither of us knew where do we need to go to eat, oh yes! Gappu is someone who can eat, eat, and eat all day long. I remember how she used to eat my lunch box in college. She never believed in exchanging. Instead, she used to finish her tiffin first, then she used to jump on mine. She is one of the reasons I cannot put on. :p

(We went to Bhopal last year in Education conference along with all the ministries. )

Now we are at Indore’s favorite food place, 56 shops. As we arrived here but nobody knows what to eat now. I have this thing in me from very beginning, which I tell people as well that,

It is ok if you do not know what to DO, but you should definitely know what you should NOT DO.

We avoided Jhonny’s Hot dog (You can Google it, it is very famous in Indore) and headed towards our childhood’s favorite food items which include-

(As we were passing by, I saw another chocolate show and felt like giving her one more. After all, girls love chocolates (Haan! Except few;p) and made her happy again. Yaayyy! I just love her for what she is, and for her, I can do anything 🙂 )

Pani Puri etc.

Now it was time for me to take her to my place. A coffee shop. Not just to have any random coffee, it is my all time favourite- ChocoFrappe. Oh lord, it is 3:56 AM right now and I ma drooling for that cold coffee.

We reached The Nest Coffee, had our coffee with Veg Puff. And took loads of pictures. I loved seeing her happy like this. Then I made her hold the guitar and asked her to act as if you are actually playing it.

Haha! I took so many videos too. After a while, we called up one of my friends and talked to her on a video call. That was a lot of fun. 😉

We talked about a few things which we wanted to talk to, and happily laughed again on them. LOL!

After a while, we laughed too much that out stomach started aching. That was Instagram’s Boomerang feature and more. We laughed till our last breath. They were too funny, that teaches us to laugh at our own silliness that taking it personally to the so-called ego. Life is simple, we only make it complicated.

Today it is Divyani’s birthday and I could not think more than you guys to share my love for her. Now, I’d not be the only one to wish her instead, your blessings and love will also be there for you. Now just for a moment, but for a lifetime. 🙂

So yeah, I wish you a happy birthday Gappu. I hope you to be the independent girl like this always. This is one of the wonderful attributes of yours that make me respect you even more. Just be happy. Now I can’t write more. Just FYS now. 😀 😉

It was a time when I was about to come to Indore from Mumbai after a long time. That too with a plan of staying at home for a week’s time. It’s very usual that when you grow up, the responsibilities are on your head but at times, the most important thing that you require is the time to breath. I wasn’t getting that being in Mumbai working day in day out. Hence I decided to go home and refresh myself.

Here comes your special part in my life that nobody knew about my arrival at home other than you and you texted me a night before I was coming that you’ll be there to pick me up. That’s literally a biggest thing one can do at this extent. It was a cold morning with the lowest degree of temperature but you still came to give me a surprise without fail. You won my heart that time all over again. I hugged you so tightly that the motive for me to come Indore was already fulfilled.

You not only came to pick me up, me made us go to a restaurant to have a proper breakfast and after that you dropped me home. This really means a lot for any person what you’ve done. It clearly shows how pure your heart is to put that affection on me.

It was not all enough, you have skipped your gym, working hours, personal life, family, and what not to be with me for the entire week. You left everything behind just because I wanted you every time with me. Around me. You’ve always been there holding my hands whenever I was distracted.

These all might be the things which you would have not even noticed, Gappu. But these things have made my love and respect for you on another level. Your kind heart has made me love a person Iike in altogether a new way.

Spending the entire week with you on the streets of Indore eating and buying stuff for each other has recharged me for which I had come. You’ve done that all by yourself. How could you? You’re amazing. You’re just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. 💕

Thank you for being a true friend. For sticking by me, for letting me sob into your shoulder, for allowing me to play that same old tiresome record you’ve heard a trillion times before. Thank you for letting me pour my heart out, for listening and for not just telling me what I want to hear. Thank you for loving me when no one else would. Thank you for staying constant in a world full of change and chaos. And thank you for just being there when I need you.
