Middle Finger: A Poem

Before I get into the new timezone,
I need to understand what I’ve undergone too,
I’ve lost myself a lot of times before I learnt how to get through.

You love to see what’s strong outside,
without knowing earlier it used to be so weak
Inside your heart, you find all the answers to your questions which you always seek.

Solemn tears fell down my cheeks,
Before I got the courage to get up again,
I’ve had bruises given by my own expectations,
Before I came out of that pain.

I’ve forgotten the things which were on my favour but focused on things I mostly hated,
I’ve written pages full of letters
Before the storm of my heart abated.

I have got all the strength and will to get everything back on track right,
I’ll give the respect of my middle finger to anyone who lets me down,
And I always keep my head up and fight.

  2. You are a fighter and you’ll fight back your demons and shine.
    That’s you after all.

Life throws a lot of negativity our way, may be in form of expectations as you just mentioned, but what really matters is how we take it.
And you have learnt the art of not giving a damn about circumstances.
You’ve never been a victim of it.

So yaa Cheers to the thought of rising back with a poem.

    I loved it!
    See you around ✨

  3. Amazing Sumit!! what I understood of this poem is self growth within.. instead of looking out.. first mending your relationship with yourself my accepting and letting out the past.. some expectations, some hurts.. and now that everything is out.. the inner strength is so strong that even if the outer world is against you.. you just give a damn and focus on what you are upto..

    1. That is correct. We, most of the times, forget to look what is inside and gets busy in dealing with the outer traumas which makes us weak from inside.

This piece was just an example of one of those incidences. Thank you for loving it, Anu.

  4. Wow Sumit..!!

You are so good with every peice of writing of yours. I thought it of another erotic art by you but when I started reading with each and every line, I was like No! No!! This is something else… something out of the box.

When you say…I’ve lost myself a lot of times before I learnt how to get through….I was dazed. I was like Sumit is going to inspire me again today.

When you say…inside your heart you will find all the answers to the questions you are seeking…it is absolutely true. Your mind always wander, sometimes you have to work so hard to hold it…but heart, it always remains with you. Though sometimes it plays a bluff games..but at the end of the day it’s heart..which wins(most of the time).

When you say…I have forgotten the things which were in my favour but focused on the things I mostly hated…you hinged me there. It gave me flashback of some past memories. It’s so true Sumit. Your words have got infused in my mind and heart.

    I absolutely loved it✨

    1. Hey Anushka,

And you are here, can anything be better than this?

I knew you would find something like that only but here you got surprised with the reality of this poem.

It is always the heart which wins, Anushka. You are right. May of the time my mind tried to play bad games but my heart always knew it is wrong.

Did you get that much connection with this piece? Woah! I am obliged, Anushka. Thank you so much.

I miss her here and we always love you, remember that.
