“We Ran As If To Meet the Moon.” | Prompt #1

The moon has always been a great love for the people of Earth. We always give it a name for various reasons, for some of us it’s Chanda Mama, others write songs on it, a few looks at the flaw of it, and then there are a few ones who fall it love with it, who consider romantic.

I’ve always been a lover of the moon. On my stressful day, I find the place nowhere else but on the terrace of my apartment, and the first thing I see is my love, my moon.

It causes the tide to rise and drop it down to fall, and all the time lights up our darkest soul. The moon has fascinated me ever since I was a little child; I’ve heard from my Mum that if you dream to reach at the Moon, you’ll surely be on heights in life, where you’ll feel on top of the world, beside your moon.

In this National Poetry Writing Month, I could not think of anything but my love for the Moon, and here goes my artwork below:

At the end of the day,

I go upstairs on the terrace,

Amongst great huge trees I gaze

At the great moon rise,

The clouds are flooded with darkness

And my thoughts with surmise.

While staring at the long lost orb

Flaws and insecurities are what it seem

Moon is my only lady love,

Which knows my darkest dreams.

As if it’s a docile child, look at it

The way it’s shining up there,

Revolving around the universe,

Shining like a mobile lamp in the air.

  1. Hey, just read your work.

What a wonderful use of imagery, comparing moon to a docile child, or a mobile lamp. It’s unique.
We as writers definitely love moon and for most of us it works as our muse sometimes.

I loved your poetry, but again I’m a little more bent towards the back end story.

    See you around ✨

    1. Yes Chandu! Most importantly, this way at least you’re here to read my work. You ought to be here for a month now.

Of course, that’s going to be your favorite one no, moon!
I’m so glad you loved it.

    1. Hahah! You’re sweet to say that Shree.

You’d be shocked to know that I’ve been continuously writing for more than 1200 days in row and nobody knows about what is inside it.
